There is no particular best time can be marked for rafting in India since the flow and fury of various rivers are individual. However, on the whole the months from May to November are the best months for the adventure seekers to indulge in rafting.
Permits or licenses are required for rafting in the restricted areas. The consulate office of India in your country, or the Ministry of Home Affairs, foreigners’ regional registration offices (FRRO) may be contacted for seeking the prior permission.

• Consider the length of run and your level of physical fitness
• Speed up and fix the runs as are comfortable.
• Get the medical fitness test done before hand

• Gain proper training of handling the oar and the other equipments.
• Consider the level of difficulty with your physical fitness Participate in peak climbing or high-altitude trekking as may be comfortable.
• Protect the environment and do not pollute the water.

Route To Be Taken
Delhi - Meerut (Bypass) - Muzaffarnagar - Roorkee - Haridwar - Rishikesh - Shivpuri (Camp Rapid Descent)

 
 

ITINERARY:

DAY 1:
Arrive at Camp at Shivpuri by 1300 hrs. After lunch, drive to Marine Drive (10 km). Explore the beautiful surroundings and attend a briefing on rafting techniques. The group would then raft down from Marine Drive to the camp through exciting rapids like Three Blind Mice, Black Money and Crossfire. Also one would get a chance to body surf though the Body Surfing rapid. Before the start of this stretch the group will try their hand at Bridge Slithering.
This stretch is also a treat for bird lovers with one sighting an amazing variety of birds in various sizes, shapes, hues and colours. In the night, bonfire and dinner by the riverside.

DAY 2:
After breakfast, we will today raft till Rishikesh. The Camp - Rishikesh stretch is 16 km and will be negotiated at a leisurely pace, one can swim along the raft and this is more relaxed today. During this run, one would raft through rapids like Return to the Sender, Roller Coaster, Golf Course, Clubhouse, etc. One would also get a chance to try their hand at the exciting sport of Cliff Jumping and Body Surfing. Complete the stretch to Rishikesh and return to the camp. In the camp one can swim in the green waters or indulge in a game of beach volleyball. In the night, bonfire and dinner by the riverside.

DAY 3:
After breakfast, professionals would brief the group on ROCK CLIMBING & BRIDGE RAPPELLING techniques. They would then assist the group to attempt the sport themselves. Lunch at the camp. Post lunch depart for your onward destination.

 

RAFTING SIKKIM

Water Rafting in Sikkim

One of the other adventure that Sikkim offers you is river rafting. The snow fed mountain rivers Teesta and Rangit that descend from their icy heights across high cliff suspended gorges and torturous, boulder-strewn beds offers you a unbeatable challenge. Amateurs and first timers have their choice of quieter waters, but with promise of a passage through some of picturesque riverside of Himalayan rivers.

Professionals can run the better known and popular routes on rapids grade III - IV and V. Options include a half day scenic run for amateurs on low waters and the choice of overnight river side camps adds to the beauty in the entire adventure.
Teesta is ideal for both paddle rafting and oar rafting, and brings fresh excitement for adventure lovers. The rivers of Sikkim simply sparkle and beckon.

The swift waters of Sikkim flows over rocks and crags, turbulent and delirious. Flanked on both the sides by steep cliffs and lush green forests, the river rages on, dissipating its energy only when it reaches the plains. This churning, frothing water is just perfect for white water rafting. It's a struggle with elemental forces, a thrilling adventure which takes you right into the heart of Himalayan fury.
